Rationale

  1. Your design is backed with some good research. I really like your page layout and illustration on page 2 about arthritis. I think the two handles is a very good idea, and would make pouring much easier depending on how full the bleach container is. I am wondering, is it still child safe? I did not see that in your rationale booklet as to whether you intended it to be. I think it wouldn’t need to be childproof if it is used somewhere with no children. It makes sense that you would not include information about child proofing if it does not apply.

  2. I think the two handle element is a great idea, really it would be beneficial for all users not just the elderly. It would be great if this type of handle was incorporated into a wide range of bottled products packaging. Similar to Julie I worry about child safety if there is no child lock on the lid, however see that it is a great problem that the elderly struggle to open the child locking mechanism. Good work

  3. i like how you decided to design your package as a compact 1L instead of 2L to cater for elderly with arthritis and how you added the extra handle near the cap to ease with pouring.
however your design says there are soft edges to ensure safe usage but in your tech drawing it doesnt really look soft and round other than that great job

  4. i like the idea of your locking mechanism, it may not be strong enough to keep children out but i think with a bit more work you could make it possible. A button that was pressed by the users thumb at the same time to disengage the lid might work.

  5. well done on a great design, your rationale booklet is well written and explored . as the others have also said, it would have been beneficial to further explore increasingly child-proofing the bottle . another inprovement to consider would be the grip used to open the bottle as the pinch grip needed can sometimes be difficult for arthritis sufferers .
