The Venus Fly Trap has small hairs located just inside its 'mouth', when a small insect lands on these hairs, they trigger a reaction in the plant which then forces the plant to close up and trap anything inside.
I used this principle for my concept, the elastic forces the top half to close down when a piece of clothing lands on it.
